How to renovate a flat in loft style and become cool

New flats are not your thing? You like lofts, cannot afford them though? I show you a way out.

Zsuzsa is a vivid personality. She cannot halt for a second, let it be work, friends or private life.

I have heard a lot about the furniture ideas while she has been doing the renovation. Door as a functioning lamp, hanging off the ceiling? Old windows as partition? The list was long and I was already envious.

What can you do in such a situation as a blogger? Either you get annoyed why all these ideas did not come to your mind, or you make yourself invite so that you can report about this cool flat. I chose the latter!

The entrance

The flat is characterized by 2 main styles. For one, you will find a lot of recycled or upcycled items. Just look to the left after entering and you will see a cool kitchen island made out of exposed brick. 2 old windowframes are hanging above it, serving as the partition between the corridor and the kitchen. There is no glass in them, would be obsolete. It looks great!

Above the windows, you will find bulbs without any lamp shade, hanging off a nice, bulky piece of wood.

You will also find a lot of vintage items.

Old window frames on the left, bulbs without lamp shades above and on the other side of the kitchen island - just as it is meant to be!

The kitchen

You will find a wine barrel next to the kitchen island. Zsuzsa is a wine aficionado, so this was a perfect match. It has not been touched, what for? Works as a charm as a nice little table.

Kitchen island made out of exposed brick, wine barrel, old window frames. The leather duffel bag is mine, fits perfectly in here!

I sit on one of the bar stools next to the kitchen island and sippin' my wine while I constantly looking around. Behind my back there is a simple, yet cool sofa, made of a pallet. The color scheme is tasteful, the wooden floor and furniture match the pastel blue wall just nicely.

A little sofa made out of a pallet, a wooden crate serving as a table, warm lights - nice ambient in here!

Next to the sofa there is a wooden crate, where you can put your book while reading or your drink while having company. The lamp gives a nice warm light.

And tadaaaaam, the door hanging off the ceiling! I have never seen this before, preserves an original and typical part of the flat. Perfect upcycling, what could be a better match in a loft like interior?

Barn door

Further down in the kitchen there is a little storage, the interesting part is the sliding door, which imitates a barn  door from the countryside. It is not complete yet as the hardware is missing from the bottom. It works though and looks great already!

The barn door - pretty dope

Toilet with a touch of loft

Yep, even the toilet is packed with interesting details. No shit?

The multicolored tiles behind the faucet is to be noticed. The really cool part is the metal bucket that serves as a sink. Dope!

The bedroom

Further down in the flat I get to the last room, which is a 3 in 1: bedroom, living room and bathroom. In the small bathroom part the sink is held by a curvy metal stand. The shower enclosure is still to be found. It is not gonna be a plain plastic or glass thingie, obviously. Under construction!

The bathroom, which is not separated by walls from the bedroom

The bedroom has a nice stucco ceiling with a matching chandelier, the former was part of the flat originally.

Opposite to the bed there is a faux fireplace, it matches greatly the exposed brickwall painted in white behind the bed.

I liked this part so  much that I made some pictures taken of myself. Here it is!

Myself

It would be difficult to list all the creative parts, there is so much of them. Check back on the bathroom section: the lamp that looks like a candlestick, the metal sinkholder and the mirror made out of an old picture frame imitates perfectly the vintage style of the French countryside.

There are some small details to be done before the flat could be called done, I didn't even recognize them though till my host called my attention to it.

Excellent taste, a lot of Do-It-Yourself (DIY) work and a ton of ideas resulted in this great vintage, loft and upcycled interior.

Congrats!
